There are, after all, hundreds-of-thousands, and in some cases millions, of drivers engaging in these activities worldwide. If you count yourself among this in-the-know collective, you'll likely agree Nissan offers the best customer engagement in the entire auto industry.
Operative word: engagement. Nissan doesn't tweet for the sake of it. Just like they don't post to their Facebook account or load a new video to YouTube for the sake of it. Anything, they offer is interesting and relevant. And more important, they use Twitter, Facebook and YouTube to open up the table for an honest two-way dialogue.
It's no surprise then that Nissan has over 75k people following one or more of their Tweet feeds focused on everything from general Nissan news to specific models, such as the Nissan Versa, Nissan Quest, and Nissan LEAF. Nor is it surprising that Nissan boasts a Facebook community of over 500k and 10-million views on YouTube.
What is surprising, and from our perspective pleasantly so, is the fact that no other automaker in the industry can even begin to compete with this kind of customer engagement. Jumping back to Nissan's success with Twitter for a moment...the Japanese automaker was recently named number eight on the "Top Brands on Twitter for 2011" list. They were the only automaker featured on the list of 15, joining the ranks of Apple, Nike, and Twitter themselves.
