Nissan Motor Corporation's goal to become a sustainable company has netted yet another recognition. In April 2021, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) named Nissan a 2021 ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year - Sustained Excellence winner, the brand's 12th overall in the category and 10th straight year finishing with the critical recognition. This is an honor that Beaver County Nissan proudly stands behind. According to the EPA, the honor "demonstrates superior leadership, innovation and commitment to environmental protection through energy efficiency." Nissan's propensity to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve energy management at its U.S. facilities were at the forefront of the award.

In 2020 alone, Nissan attained a 21 percent reduction in its manufacturing carbon footprint, proving yet again that the efficiency and ingenuity of the brand begin at the ground level. Nissan is still fighting for complete carbon neutrality, which it hopes to reach in both manufacturing practices and in its products by 2050. Among the methods used include using more LED lighting in the facilities and Nissan models, design improvements leading to better fuel mileage, and even an environmentally friendly painting process that produces fewer fumes. Nissan is also running the Nissan Green Program, where the company is looking to reach "A Symbiosis of People, Vehicles, and Nature" for the betterment of humanity.
