They say that it is never too early to plan for the future. That seems to be the logic behind one of the newest Nissan stories to come out of South America. As Rio de Janeiro gears up for the 2016 Summer Olympics, the world is watching and Nissan is doing their part by starting the first zero-emission taxi service. Naturally the vehicle of choice for toting passengers is the clean Nissan LEAF.

The new taxi service will be implemented slowly. Cars will be added to the taxi fleet a few at a time. This way, the transportation companies will be able to better schedule charging times in between fares. This new program will also spark a new electric infrastructure around the city and spur the creation of more charging stations.

Here at Beaver County Nissan we are always excited to see new Nissan vehicles being used in innovative ways, especially when it contributes to keeping the planet healthy. If you would like to hear more stories about how Nissan is changing the automotive game, then be sure to subscribe to our blog.
