With a name like "Emergency assist for pedal misapplication (with Carpark Detection Function)," you'd like the latest safety technology from Nissan to be a ways off. The name, while apt in describing the system's function, does not have what we here at Beaver County Nissan would call a marketable ring to it. Nissan, however, is ready to test the new system in its minivan in Japan.
While this is exciting new, you may be wondering how the new technology works. Well, by incorporating with Nissan's already developed safety technology the Nissan Around View Monitor and Moving Object Detection, the new system will tell drivers whether or not their in a confined space like a parking lot or alley way. Following its detection of a confined space, the new system will automatically restrict the car from the ability to suddenly accelerate if the gas pedal is mistakenly pushed.
Although this new technology is impressive, the system still needs some refining with it's name. What do you think would be a good name for the new technology? Let us know by leaving a comment below.
