Providing vindication to the fact that Nissan values automotive safety, the Japanese automaker has recently introduced a new tech feature which helps to prevent car accidents. Although the new feature Is still in its early development stage, we here at Beaver County Nissan believe its an important feature to highlight.
Known currently as "Emergency assist for pedal misapplication (with Carpark Detection Function)," the new technology will need a shorter, more appealing name before making it into the greater new Nissan lineup. For now, Nissan is implementing the new system into its Elgrand minivan in Japan.
If you're wondering how it works, we're here to tell you. The new system is designed to identify and prevent the misapplication of the wrong pedal when traveling at low speeds, for instance, in a parking lot. When Nissan's Emergency assist system identifies a sudden depression of the gas pedal while in a confined area, the system will override the accelerator and prevent the vehicle from sudden acceleration. All of this is done through the use of an Around View Monitor and Moving Object Detection system which integrates seamlessly with a number of other safety features.
