Nissan is partnering up for a second season of Spike TV's "GT Academy" with Sony Entertainment and Polyphony Digital, set to air later this year (check your local listings).

"GT Academy" puts gamers and race fans against time trials in animated Nissan vehicles, where winners can be featured on the series and drive real life vehicles. 53,000 competitors signed up last year, and Californian Bryan Heitkotter took home the gold. "Nissan GT Academy is a truly unique opportunity," he said about the show. "For me traveling and racing around the world has been an amazing, life changing experience so far, and I know we can achieve even more."1

Heitkotter has raced for Nissan in events throughout the US, Middle East and Europe.

Players download "GT Academy" at the PlayStation Store, and take place in an 8-week long event. Scores are recorded via the Playstation 3 system. The final week of features online time trials. Winners holding the fastest lap times will be chosen for the series.

The televised portion begins with 32 spots, followed by the top 16 players heading to the "GT Academy" boot camp. Participants face physical challenges, such as races in a real Nissan GT-R and Nissan Maxima.

When you come to Beaver County Nissan of Beaver Falls,  PA for the 2012 Nissan line up, you'll immediately fall in love with the Sony made tech inside these vehicles.
