Nissan Confirms Return of GT-R to Bathurst

2015 turned out to be an incredible year for the GT-R Nismo GT3. It's win at the Bathurst 12 Hour endurance race kicked off a string of victories in the Blancpain GT Endurance Series in Europe, Super GT Championship in Japan and Pirelli World Challenge in the United States. With high hopes for continued to success of the ultra-high-performance sports car, Nissan has confirmed that the specially designed GT-R will return to the Mount Panorama Circuit, to defend its title.

Richard Emery, Managing Director and CEO of Nissan Motor Co. Australia, commented on the announcement, saying: "2015 was the first Bathurst win for the legendary Nissan GT-R since the back-to-back Bathurst 1000 wins in 1991 and 1992. While we respect the level of competition, it will naturally be our aim to emulate the feats of that era by getting another set of back-to-back wins."

Nissan and Nismo traditionally race under the number 23, however, the 2016 entry will carry the number 1 at the next Bathurst 12 Hour, to signify its status as defending race winner.
